Why is the Western Wall important?

The Western Wall is important and significant in Judaism as it’s the only remaining part of the Second Temple. It is also located near Temple Mount which is considered to be a holy site.

When was the Western Wall built?

The Western Wall is said to have been built by King Herod in 20 BCE. The wall survived when the Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE.

Why is the Western Wall called the Wailing Wall?

Many refer to the Western Wall as the ‘Wailing ‘wall’ due to the mournful prayers that have been said by the Wall for centuries.
